Biographical note
Musicologist and musician, Giuliano Castellani studied at the University of Fribourg and was later invited by the Faculty of Music of the University of Cambridge (UK) to work there as visiting scholar. He is the author of numerous papers about Rossini, Verdi, Viotti, Boccherini and about the Italian opera in Paris in the 19th century, and published the first monograph about
Ferdinando Paer in Italian. He published the critical edition of Paer’s opera Agnese, and promoted in 2008 its first modern premiere directed by Diego Fasolis at the RSI Radiotelevisione della Svizzera italiana in Lugano.
